What are frame grabs? Frame grabs are taken from HDV cameras, preferably progressive ones. I am shooting with a Sony HDV A1U, 1080i. You want to shoot at a high shutter speed to prevent blurred images. I import my footage into Final Cut Pro.
Once there, I begin the process of picking out the shots that best explain the story ( same as looking over digital images )
I then open a custom window and display the footage at 90%. Once I see the one I want, I do a screen grab (Apple-shift- 3)
A png file is now on my desktop. I place that image on Voodoo Tool.
Once it runs through this process, I open it in photoshop CS3 and there is a nice image. Voodoo Tool was created by David Leeson and his son, David Leeson II.
